How to tame and ride a Buggy in Grounded 2

One of the major differences between Grounded and Grounded 2 is the introduction of Buggies in the latter. You can now ride along on a trusty insect companion, letting you travel across the map quicker and have some company if you’re alone in a singleplayer playthrough.

How to unlock and ride a Buggy in Grounded 2

Before you can unlock Buggies in Grounded 2, you’ll need to progress far enough into its main story to start the Egg Hunt quest. During this quest, you’ll find your first Soldier Ant Egg, build a Hatchery, and hatch an egg from it, allowing you to unlock your very own Buggy.

Here’s a complete step-by-step guide to completing this quest’s main objectives and unlocking your Buggy:

1. After starting Egg Hunt, enter the anthill and find both an Optical Disk and a Red Soldier Ant Egg.
2. Go to a Ranger Station and purchase the Hatchery data pack for 500 Raw Science.
3. Return to your base and build a Hatchery.
4. Place your Red Soldier Ant Egg inside and wait 12 in-game hours for it to hatch.

Once you hatch your ant, you’ll be able to mount it or run alongside it so it can fight off enemies for you. It isn’t invincible, but it can hold its own against lawn mites and other small insects that approach you.

Over time, you’ll unlock other Buggy types that have their own unique traits. You’ll need an Ant Nest to house them and increase your Buggy capacity. The data pack you purchased for the Hatchery also includes the Ant Nest, so you’ll only need to worry about building this second structure separately.

You’ll first need the following materials to make a hatchery:

Next, you’ll need to collect the resources below for the Ant Nest:

Lastly, you’ll need some additional items for your Buggy itself. Here’s the recipe for an Ant Buggy:

• Red Soldier Ant Egg
• Grub Hide (2)

• Acorn Shell (1)

Once you hatch your Buggy, you can mount it, use it to gather nearby resources, and have it as a security guard against smaller insects. That way, you won’t have to worry about mites constantly attacking you or missing out on valuable items.
