How to search Allard’s chambers for An Unsettling Encounter quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Among the many quests Brant will give you to investigate what’s going on at Vernworth Castle is the quest An Unsettling Encounter. For this quest, you will need to search Allard’s Chambers for proof of nefarious deeds. However, his chambers can be tricky to find, and even trickier to search. Here’s how to search Allard’s chambers for the An Unsettling Encounter quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to sneak into Allard’s chambers

In order to search Allard’s chambers property for the An Unsettling Encounter quest, you need to wait until it’s night time. You can do this easily by going to the Tavern and speaking to the Tavernkeep then choosing to wait around until it’s night time out. You can also go to the Inn and choose to Sleep until Nightfall, but that will cost you 2,000 gold.

Once it’s nighttime, head to Vernworth Castle. Once there, an NPC should meet you and tell you to follow her. Do so and she will bring you to a back entrance into The Guardhouse of the castle. If for some reason the NPC is not there to greet you, you can head to the location indicated on the map above which is where you can enter The Guardhouse without any issue.

Now that you’re inside Vernworth Castle, you need to be careful. If you get spotted by a guard they will attack you and try to arrest you. From here, you need to head towards the main audience chamber area of Vernworth Castle then head up to the second floor. As you approach Allard’s chambers, you’ll trigger a cutscene that shows someone speaking to Allard and informing him he’s needed elsewhere. This is your chance to get inside his chambers and find what you need. Just make sure they don’t spot you on the way out, then head inside Allard’s chambers.

Where to find Battahli-Crested Letter

If you look around Allard’s chambers you might not immediately see what you’re looking for. But look on the northeastern wall of Allard’s chambers and you’ll notice a part of the wall stands out from the rest. If you’ve already attended the masquerade, you’ll surely know what to do by now.

Move into the wall at the point indicated in the screenshot above and the fake wall will reveal itself to be a swinging door, giving way to a secret chamber. Inside the chamber you will find the Battahli-Crested Letter sitting on the table. Grab it and head back into Allard’s chambers and you will trigger a cutscene of Allard returning to his chambers. Once you have control of the Arisen again, simply jump out the window. It may seem like a long way down, but thankfully the oxcart below will break your fall and you will not take any damage.

From here head back to Brant to hand over the Battahli-Crested Letter and comp lete the An Unsettling Encounter quest!
