How to retrieve Nefi’s tongs from the tunnel in Tales of the Shire

The many villagers who call Bywater home regularly send you on quests to find missing items for them in Tales of the Shire. One of the trickier items to find is Nefi’s tongs, which she tells you are in a tunnel.

Since she only gives you this vague hint to work with, it can be quite tough to figure out where the tongs actually are. The right area is pretty well hidden, so if this clue has you stuck, here’s how to retrieve Nefi’s tongs from the tunnel in Tales of the Shire.

During the Restore the Cooking Club tale, you can find Nefi’s tongs in a small tunnel located just below her forge near the northern end of The Village Square. Although the tunnel is right underneath where she works, getting there is a bit tricky since there’s no staircase or path nearby.

To find this missing item, your first step should be to venture to Nefi’s forge if you’re not already there. This is the best spot to start the hunt since she dropped her tongs fairly close to her home, which means the tunnel isn’t too far off.

You can find her small work area near the northern end of The Village Square and the northern end of Bywater. It’s a small building on the edge of the area, overlooking the river and the nearby pier.

Tunnel location in Tales of the Shire

The tunnel is right below Nefi’s forge, close to the river running near the edge of The Village Square. Here are the steps you need to follow to access this area and return Nefi’s lost item.

• Head east away from Nefi’s forge, towards the well nearby it.
• Continue straight along the path until you spot a tall, thin tree with a lantern on it. Just past this tree, you’ll find a signpost. Turn left and make a full U-turn once you pass this sign, so you’re now walking along the river.
• Follow the path along the lake, going around the right side of the small pond blocking your way.
• Proceed down the path until you reach the tunnel entrance near a pier you can’t access from this area.
• Enter the tunnel to find Nefi’s tongs on the ground near the middle.
• Select the Pick Up button, which varies by platform but is displayed in the bottom right corner once you’re close enough to grab the tongs, to acquire this item.
• Return the tongs to Nefi at her forge.
