Star Path events often send you on complex scavenger hunts that only provide vague hints in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One such vague quest asks you to mine for black stones around the village.
Although finding black rocks may seem easy enough at first, this mission is very particular about which ones actually count. What are black stones in Disney Dreamlight Valley?
For the purposes of the Paw-fect Romance Star Path event, there are three items that count as black stones, which are Onyx, Coal Ore, and Night Shards. While most items are found around specific biomes or locations, these three are rather unique, so tracking them down may be tough.
- Onyx can be found while mining rock spots anywhere in DDV, including spots around the main valley and DLC worlds like Wishblossom Ranch, Eternity Isle, and Storybook Vale. Any node you mine has a chance of revealing some Onyx, but no rock node is guaranteed to, which can make finding it decently tough.
- Coal Ore can also be acquired while mining rock nodes anywhere. This resource is a lot more common, though, which means you’ll see it much more frequently than Onyx. Since both can be obtained the same way, focusing on these two black rocks at the same time for the Star Path mission is quite doable.
- Night Shards can be found by digging sparkling spots anywhere around the valley or DLC worlds. While both Onyx and Coal Ore can be mined for, Night Shards must be dug up, so the method for finding this resource is different. Any sparkling spot you dig has a chance of revealing some Night Shards, but they’re not guaranteed to, so how easy or difficult this item is to find comes down to luck.
Other items you find while exploring, like Tin if you have A Rift in Time, may also appear to be black stones that you might expect to count for this mission. For this Star Path duty, though, only the three previously mentioned options work, even if you find something else that seems to match this description.
Mine for black stones in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To complete the mine for black stones quest, you need to mine a total of 15 items in this category, including Onyx, Coal Ore, and Night Shards. You can find 15 of one specific stone, mix and match between two of them, or gather a few of all three types. It’s entirely up to you how you choose to work through it.
You might want to make some useful elixirs to help you through this mission if you’re struggling. Mining and digging potions will help you obtain bonus materials as you work on this quest, allowing you to progress more quickly.
Finishing this mission gets you 20 Tokens to spend in the event, which is the maximum you can earn from any one regular Star Path duty.
