Upgrading your bag space early on is crucial, as there are quite a few levels to this system, and you’ll want to work your way through them as quickly as you can so you can avoid situations where you might be exploring and run out of room. How to get more bag storage in Starsand Island
You can increase your bag space by selecting the “Expand” option on your bag and spending the required materials. This process is a bit tricky to figure out the first time around, as there are loads of different tabs and options to choose from in your bag, so here’s a full breakdown of how to get it done.
- Open your bag. The bag icon is located in the upper right corner and can be accessed by clicking on it or pressing the button displayed next to it. On PC, this button is B, but it varies across other platforms. You can also access your bag by selecting the bag icon on your phone.
- Find the “Expand” option. There are lots of tabs and sections in your bag, but the only one you need here is the “Expand” option, which is located in the bottom left corner.
- Spend the required materials. Each bag upgrade has different required materials, with each level up requiring tougher items to unlock. If you don’t have the required resources, you’ll have to get to work gathering them and return to this step once you have what’s needed.
As soon as you spend the required resources, your bag will instantly be upgraded. You can upgrade it at any time, anywhere, even if you’re on the go, as long as you have the materials to do so. As you get to the higher-level bag upgrades, though, you’ll likely need to craft materials, which means you’ll need to find crafters and other machines to get the upgrade resources you’re after.

What’s the maximum bag space in Starsand Island?
The storage cap on your bag is 70, which is unlocked once you apply the eighth and final bag upgrade. When you first start playing, you only have 30 slots, but this number steadily increases as you work your way through the upgrades. For additional storage, you’ll need to craft and place chests on your home lot.
