How to hide Godlike hair and facial features in Avowed

Mushrooms be gone!

You might be the Envoy to the Emperor in Avowed, but you’re also a ‘Godlike’. This grants you some special characteristics, namely some powerful magical abilities. However, it also means you’ll have some mushroom-like hair and facial features that can be a little distracting. Here’s how to hide Godlike features in Avowed.

Removing these mushroom-like growths off your hair and face can be done by changing the ‘Display Godlike features in-game’ options to ‘No’ in the character creation process.

The ‘Heads & Hair’ menu has a Godlike Features tab. Here, at the top of both the Facial Features and Hair Features sections, there is an option to toggle these visual flairs on your character on and off.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind here. First, this is the only opportunity to enable or disable Godlike features on your character. Once you’ve exited the character creation process at the beginning of the game, there isn’t an option in the game settings to toggle these features on and off. I recommend taking the time to toggle these Godlike features on and off in the character creator and deciding whether you like them, before making a final decision and moving on.

In my opinion, because the game is played in first-person mode by default, you’ll rarely see your character anyway. They may show up in cutscenes so the mushrooms sprouting out of their face might be a little off-putting then, but this is few and far between and stays authentic to the story Avowed is trying to tell. Ultimately, though, the decision is up to you.

Regardless of whether you display or hide Godlike hair and facial features in Avowed, NPCs will still react as if your character does have them. They’ll pass comments on your… beautiful growths and remark about your almighty Godlike prowess.

That’s everything you need to know on removing Godlike features in Avowed. For more on the game, be sure to check out our guides on burning the brambles and switching between first and third-person views.
