Do you feel that cold? It might be the open window or, perhaps, a shark hiding in the water. Indeed, the Icebeard shark is among one of the many varieties added to Fisch. But which are the best bait, rod, and location to catch it? We will guide you through all the information you need.
Where to find the Icebeard Shark
The Icebeard Shark can be found in only one location all over Fisch, inside the Glacial Grotto, in a hidden pond. This is a new location that was added to the Northern Expedition island, in the 1.11.0 update launched in late November 2024.
To get to the hidden pond, first head to the Northern Expedition island, then follow these steps:
- Once you are there, head to your left and start the long mountain climb, arriving to the summer base camp.
- Check your oxygen tanks and refill them as needed, then continue following the ladders, while going towards the right.
- After walking for a bit on a snowy path, you should be arriving at the third base camp. Check again your oxygen levels.
- Now, continue following the stairs, while climbing higher and crossing several bridges.
- After a while, you will arrive at the fourth and final base camp.
- Your destination is just up ahead, after a bit of climb while going towards the path in front of the base camp.
At one point you should find an opening to the left, which will lead you towards the grotto and the pond. If you are not sure of where to find it, its GPS coordinates are X: 20024, Y: 1089 and Z: 5731.
What are the best bait and rod to catch the Icebeard Shark?
The Icebeard Shark is a Mythical fish, which means that is going to be one of the hardest to catch. Its favorite bait is the Truffle Worm, and it can be caught only at night, and only during the winter season, of course. To shift the time of day to your needs, you can use the Sundial Totem. But where to find truffle worms?

There are several ways you can obtain truffle worms, for example by opening treasure chests (you have a 10% chance of finding some) or completing more than 50 quests for the Angler NPC. But the easiest way to get them is by opening Coral Geodes, as they will be hidden inside. The Geodes can be bought from the Merchant NPC you will find at the Desolate Deep. You might even get lucky by catching some fish in the same area, they might sometimes contain truffle worms.
Once you hook the shark, much like other Mythical fish, it will put a 50% speed penalty on your rod. To counteract this, we recommend using a rod that can provide high control skills and resilience as well. In this regard, you might want to use the Zeus Rod or the Rod of the Depths. More advanced players can also think about using the Rod of the Forgotten Fang, as they might have already found it.
