How to get the Destiny 2 Into the Light Midnight Coup God Roll

I am the beloved father of the people, and the glorious mob would not suffer my death.

Bungie is pulling out all of the stops as the Light and Dark Saga nears its conclusion in Destiny 2. Part of this has been reprising fan-favorite weapons like Midnight Coup as part of its Into the Light pseudo-season. This kinetic Hand Cannon packs a wallop with the right perks. Here are the God Rolls to keep an eye out for.

How to get Midnight Coup in Destiny 2

Midnight Coup is part of the BRAVE arsenal lovingly provided by Lord Shaxx. Logging in from the second week onward of Into the Light, players will get the introductory “Midnight Ride” quest. Speak with Arclite 99-40 in the Hall of Champions to accept.

Much like the respective weapon quests, players will need to get Hand Cannon kills to progress it. Completing the quest will give a Curated Roll and the ability to attune the weapon in the Hall of Champions, increasing its drop rate in the Onslaught activity for the random rolls we’re after.

Midnight Coup God Rolls

PvE God Roll

If there’s one thing to know about me when it comes to weapons in Destiny 2, it’s that I love explosions. So, when I see that this saucy reprisal of Midnight Coup can roll with Firefly or Explosive Payload and Kinetic Tremors, I’m a happy camper. While that would typically be my go-to combo, Desperate Measures steps in and is like “Hey, you want to do some big ol’ damage numbers?” I can’t say no to that, so this build harnesses explosions, stacking damage, and ridiculous reload speed to keep the good times rolling.

  • Arrowhead Brake: Increases Recoil Control by +20 and Handling by +10.
  • Tactical Mag: Increases Magazine by +1, Reload Speed by +10, and Stability by +5.
  • Firefly: Precision kills increase Reload Speed while also causing the target to explode, dealing Solar damage to nearby targets.
  • Desperate Measures: Weapon kills grant 10% increased damage for (7) seconds. Grenade or Melee kills grant 20% increased damage for (7) seconds (2x stacking), and landing another Grenade or Melee kill increases the effect to 30% for (7) seconds (3x stacking).
  • Masterworked Reload Speed: Increases Reload Speed by +10.

PvP God Roll

Hand Cannons have been a strong contender in the Crucible and Trials of Osiris for years and Midnight Coup isn’t going to change that. This roll is all about increasing range and stability so you can line up a tight group of shots from a distance and put the opposing Guardian’s Ghost to work.

  • Smallbore: Increases Range and Stability by +7.
  • Accurized Rounds: Increases Range by +10.
  • Moving Target: Gain +10 Aim Assist and -10% penalty on Movement Speed when ADS.
  • Opening Shot: The first shot has +20 Aim Assist, +25 Range, 5% decreased Accuracy Cone Size, and 10% decreased Accuracy Cone Growth.
  • Masterworked Stability: Increases Stability by +10.
