Playing as a deadly parasite in Pathogenic is no easy task, as you must conquer various parts of the human body. You start by assaulting the skin, but the ultimate goal is to take down the brain, unlocking the game’s true ending.
You can’t directly breach the brain; instead, you’ll need to solve a puzzle, and this guide will show you how.
How to defeat the brain in Pathogenic
To take down the brain, you will have to begin your assault from the skin. Here are the parts you will have to defeat to reach the brain:
- Skin
- Intestine
- Stomach
- Liver
- Lungs
- Heart
Each part has a specific spot where you can unlock a sigil room. This step is necessary because each room holds a key to unlock the brain. Here’s all the information you need to find those puzzle keys.
- Attack the skin’s walls to unlock a secret room. Inside, you’ll find a special organelle needed for the remaining steps.
- Defeat the boss in the intestines and enter the appearing vein. The vein contains a key for the brain puzzle.
- The sigil room in the stomach is hidden. Use the organelle obtained from the skin’s secret room to locate it.
- The sigil is in the collector’s room in the liver.
- The organelle is located in one of the ordinary rooms in the lungs.
- No sigils are found in the heart. Instead, defeat the main boss (the A/V node) and use the keys from the previous sigil rooms to unlock the puzzle and access the ring.
When you try to enter a sigil room, access is locked. Use a special code with the arrow keys on your keyboard. I haven’t tested it with a controller, but it works on a keyboard. Press the buttons in this order:
- Right
- Up
- Down
- Up
- Left
- Right
Entering this code correctly will let you access the interiors of the sigil room and find whatever shapes (aka puzzle keys) are located inside.
The process of unlocking the door to the brain begins with defeating the boss in the heart. This activates an endless mode that lets you access the brain. All of this has to be done in the same run, and your progress does not carry over. If you die, you will need to repeat the steps again. As mentioned in this guide, gaining access to the brain is a lot of work.
To solve the puzzle, you will have to use your arrow keys to insert the correct yellow shape. The correct solution will always be random, which makes things tricky. As long as you have picked all four different puzzle keys, you should be able to solve the puzzle.
The correct solution is to use shapes that complete the broken puzzle. In simple words, you need to complete the grey shapes using puzzle keys in such a fashion that they look complete. If you manage to do this correctly, you will gain access to the brain. If you do this wrong three times, you will die, and your run will be over.
