How to get Carrots and Carrot Seeds in Stardew Valley

Eat your veggies.

There are four new crops in Stardew Valley as of the 1.6 update and one of them, Carrots, might seem elusive at first but they’re pretty easy to find once you know where to look. There’s a couple of ways to get Carrot Seeds, so let’s look into it.

Carrots aren’t worth much, selling for between 35 and 70 Gold depending on their quality level, but they are good for keeping your energy up, especially early into a new playthrough. Carrots provide 75 energy at a base level, increasing at higher quality levels. Carrots are a Spring crop, take three days to grow, and provide one Carrot per seed.

The best and easiest way to get Carrot Seeds is from the Raccoon’s wife, once she arrives. She sells all four of the new crops in exchange for the kind of thing you’d expect Racoons to love. Unfortunately, this might be some time away as you have to do his quest and wait a while before she shows up. However, there is a way to get Carrot Seeds before she arrives in the tree.

If you want to find Carrot Seeds, you could head down to the beach and look out for dig spots. These are those little patches of ground that have worms wriggling around in them and have always been in the game, but since 1.6 dropped, there’s some new worms in town.

The worms you should look for if you want Carrot Seeds are green in color and stand out fairly easily once you find them. Using your Hoe, dig up the square of ground where the Worms are wriggling around to be rewarded with a packet of Carrot Seeds.

Of course these spots aren’t easy to come by, but if you’re struggling to find any you can always head to Lewis’ house and use the Prize Machine. To get Prize Tickets, you’ll need to complete tasks from the Bulletin Board.

Failing that, you can sometimes find Carrot Seeds in boxes and crates within the Mines, and occasionally within Mystery Boxes found across the map. This last option seems the least likely way that you’ll receive Carrot Seeds, but it’s worth a try if you’re desperate.
