How to get and use Prize Tickets in Stardew Valley

Help the villagers, win tickets, get prizes

The quest board outside Pierre’s General Store in Stardew Valley, along with the Special Orders Board outside Mayor Lewis’ house, have suddenly become much more inviting after the 1.6 update, because they now offer a new type or reward — Prize Tickets.

Prize Tickets can be exchanged at the Prize Machine inside Mayor Lewis’ house in order to get rare, expensive or exclusive items. While there are a few ways to get Prize Tickets, getting them does require some effort and you may have to play the long game in order to get some of the more elusive prizes, such as the Pig Painting.

Prize Tickets are gained through completing select objectives within the game. Thankfully, there isn’t any RNG involved when it comes to getting them, but every method relies on either skill or effort.

One guaranteed Prize Ticket can be found in a box behind the stump located at the back of the spot where the Bookseller sets up shop every two weeks. This is a one time thing, though, so once you’ve picked it up you won’t be able to get it again.

The easiest way to get Prize Tickets is by completing relevant quests from the board outside Pierre’s. You’ll know whether you will be awarded a Prize Ticket for any of the quests, because a red ticket will be displayed in the bottom corner of the request. You can also complete any of the Special Orders from the board outside Mayor Lewis’ house, as these are guaranteed to provide one ticket per completed order.

If you want to get your hands on a stack of Prize Tickets, your best bet is to grind out Star Tokens during the Stardew Valley Fair. Here, you can purchase Prize Tickets for 1,000 Star Tokens each.

There are also three other events which reward Prize Tickets:

  • Spirits Eve
    • Obtained by opening up the chest at the end of the maze every other year
  • Ice Festival and Egg Festival
    • Rewarded for repeated wins
