How to get and use a Mannequin in Stardew Valley

If you ask me, even a regular Mannequin is pretty creepy...

One of the new items added to Stardew Valley with the 1.6 update is the Mannequin. While 99% of the time, these Mannequins are perfectly normal and will be perfectly happy displaying your chosen outfits, there’s a darker variety out there for you to find.

If you’ve got some favorite outfits that you want to display or easily change into from time to time, then the Mannequin might be the perfect item for you to place in your Farmhouse. Not only do they look cute and make things feel a little less lonely there, but they also don’t do anything creepy whatsoever. Most of the time.

Getting your hands on a Mannequin is remarkably simple once you’ve unlocked the Calico Desert. Mannequins can be purchased from Sandy, who runs The Oasis. Each Mannequin costs 12,000 Gold, and you can purchase them with either a male or female body type represented by (M) or (F).

Once you’ve placed your Mannequin wherever you’d like to put it, head over to your dresser to plan and select an outfit to put on it. Once you’ve selected your clothing items, just head over to the Mannequin and, with the clothes selected in your inventory, right click on the Mannequin to get it dressed.

Coincidentally, this is the same way that you put hats on Cats and Dogs

How to get a Cursed Mannequin

Cursed Mannequin description in Stardew Valley

There have been rumors spreading across Reddit about a Cursed Mannequin that steals your clothes, rearranges your furniture, and redecorates your Farmhouse. I can confirm these rumors to be absolutely true, although thankfully, my own Cursed Mannequin seems to be pretty shy because it’s not been too mischievous as of yet.

To get your own Cursed Mannequin, you’ll need to go diving into the Dangerous Mines. While there, you’ll encounter some Haunted Skulls, which you must defeat. The Mannequin is not a guaranteed drop; so far, it seems pretty rare, so you might have to kill a lot of Haunted Skulls in order to get your hands on one.

Once you’ve got a Cursed Mannequin, you can dress it in the same way as you would any other Mannequin. Most of the mischief will take place after you’ve gone to sleep, but there are some things that may happen while you’re awake. If you watch carefully, you might see the Mannequin move or blink.

Don’t worry, so far no harm has come to me as a result of the Cursed Mannequin being in my collection, so I’m sure you’ll be fine.
