The Water Pump has always been an important item to find in ARC Raiders, but its demand has gone up recently following the launch of the Shrouded Sky update.
While the Water Pump doesn’t have any direct use-case scenario, it’s required for completing the Unexpected Initiatives quest. But you’ll now need it for another reason.

Best locations for Water Pump in ARC Raiders
The Water Pump, like all other items in the game, doesn’t have a fixed location. You can obtain it randomly when going through different containers and loot spots. To raise the chances in your favor, you’ll want to visit the areas tagged as Mechanical and Industrial.
While you can find the item on all five maps, the best potential spots are on the Dam Battlegrounds and Spaceport. I have found the Water Pump quite frequently in the past. Here are the locations you’ll want to visit.

- Hydrophonic Dome Complex
- Water Treatment Control
- South Swamp Outpost (I have found some in the Field Depots)
Spaceport
- Fuel Control
- Jiangsu Warehouses
- Shipping Warehouse
- Container Storage
- Vehicle Maintenance
Ultimately, it’s all about your luck. That said, the Water Pump is a common item, so you should find it pretty quickly.
How to use the Water Pump in ARC Raiders
The Water Pump is a great item to recycle for materials. Doing so gets you four Metal Parts and two Oil, both of which are essential items. You can also sell this Rare item for 1,000 credits a piece, but it’s better to recycle it instead.
You’ll also need to find it to complete the Unexpected Initiatives quest. Additionally, the Shrouded Sky update has introduced the Weather Monitor System project, and you need to submit one Water Pump to complete the fourth stage of the project. Once you submit the Water Pump, you’ll also get three Trailblazers, which are one of the best explosives for bringing down bigger ARCs like the Bastion and the Bombardier.
