How to unlock Amstrigian head armor in MH Wilds

You can get the Amstrigian head armor set by completing the “When Do Quematrice Sing?” Event Quest. This mission will be available until April 22 at 4:59 pm PT/April 23 at 00:59 BST. Those who unlock the recipe will need to acquire the following resources:

  • x3 Amstrigian Ticket
  • x3 Quematrice Crest+
  • x5 Monster Keenbone

Speak to Alma about beginning this task under the Quest Counter. While the quest only requires you to be at Hunter Rank 9, I still recommend shooting for High Rank to collect high-rarity materials.

You can get most of the Amstrigian ingredients from the “When Do Quematrice Sing?” quest. However, to gather enough Amstrigian Tickets, you’ll likely have to complete this mission three times.

Before you set out on the quest, you should prepare first. It’s best to utilize weapons with the Water elemental buffs attached, as the Quematrice is weak to this attack. You can also use Status Effects like Poison and Paralysis to help bring this beast down quickly. For health items, ensure you have some healing potions and Nulberries in your inventory.

When it’s time to face off the Quematrice, aim for its neck, tail, or head for maximum damage. The neck, in particular, is the most vulnerable, so try to hit it as much as you can. But if you can’t reach its neck, go for its tail, which can be severed with enough attacks.

Quematrice’s tail swings are the most troublesome due to their highly damaging attacks. You’ll have to dodge it rather quickly, or else you’ll be engulfed in flames. Consume Nulberries whenever this happens to get rid of this debuff. After you’ve taken down the beast, you’ll receive a few valuable Quematrice pieces for upgrades and other recipes. This includes the Amstrigian Ticket, featuring the newest armor set in MH Wilds.

All Amstrigian head armor stats and buffs

Go to a nearby Smithy with the Amstrigian Ticket, and the new armor headpiece will appear. This set presents the following stats:

  • Defense: 36
  • Fire Res: -2
  • Water Res: 2
  • Thunder Res: 1
  • Ice Res: -2
  • Dragon Res: 3
  • Wide-Range Equipment Skill: Allows the effects of certain items to affect nearby allies
  • Evade Extender: Increases evade distance
  • Affinity Sliding Group Skill: Increases your affinity temporarily when sliding

Although the Amstrigian armor set doesn’t offer as much defense as the other gear, it’s still relatively good to use, especially if you play multiplayer. The item’s Wide-Range ability will help nearby allies, and by the time you upgrade this skill to Level 5, it will have a wider radius for maximum buffs.

Attach four other armor pieces to activate the Buttery Leathercraft Group Skill, including gear from the Catacabra, Gypceros, Rompopolo, and Xu Wu. Any items from these monsters will trigger this Group Skill’s buff.

Even if you’re not a fan of the Amstrigian gear’s stats, you can still utilize its layered armor (Transmog) at the Base Camp’s Tent. In return, you’ll get a cute new monster piece, adding a touch of adorableness to the game’s monstrous world.
