How to get all charms in Onimusha: Way of the Sword & all charm effects
You can unlock 21 Charms in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, with 15 available as rewards for completing story chapters, Mysteries of Kyoto, and Chance Encounters. Here’s an overview of all charms, how to get them, and what each offers once equipped:

If you have yet to do so, the Chance Encounter feature can be unlocked by finishing ”The Curse of Kiyomizu-zaka Slope” as part of the main story, while unlocking the Mysteries of Kyoto will require completing ”What Lurks in the Shadows” first. Most of the mysteries/encounters above won’t be available from the get-go and will demand either advancing in the story or clearing side content to appear.
All DLC, Demo, and Deluxe Charms
You can also acquire a total of six additional charms as DLC and Demo/Pre-Order bonuses. None of them are needed to unlock the Charmed Life Trophy/Achievement.

How to claim the Kubi Akari Demo Charm
Although all the pre-order and Deluxe rewards can be claimed via the Spirit Mirror’s Add-on Content tab, the demo-exclusive Kubi Akari charm will require a few extra steps. Here’s how to claim yours:
- Make sure you have a save file for the Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo on your machine.
- While at the title screen, head to Settings.
- Go to Privacy and scroll down to Demo Bonus.
- Select Collect Reward.
- Load your game and claim your charm via any Spirit Mirror.
How To Upgrade Your Charms in Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Onimusha: Way of the Sword allows you to upgrade your charms and boost their effects by visiting and making offerings at the Rokudo-chinnoji Temple Emma’s Hall. All 21 will cap at level 3 and require the following:
- Level 1 > Level 2: 3,000 Red Souls + 3,500 Favor
- Level 2 > Level 3: 6,000 Red Souls + 6,500 Favor
To get the necessary Favor for each upgrade, make sure to break every vase/box you see, help those in need, revisit areas, complete side tasks, and exchange your Red Souls at Yorimasa’s Monument.
