Mining is money in SpaceCraft, and you’ll have to upgrade your Mining Laser frequently to stay on top. Once you clear the initial contracts, you’ll need a better Mining Laser to source more complex metals. Unfortunately, things can be rather confusing in the beginning. This guide will help you figure out the complete process so that you don’t get stuck in the space.

Best Mining Laser combination to use in SpaceCraft

All ships in SpaceCraft come equipped with the Simple Mining Laser. This is a default option that doesn’t require any maintenance or upgrades. It has a heating-up mechanism, so you’ll occasionally need to give it some rest.

The Simple Mining Laser is ideal for all crude and simple metal depots. However, you can’t use it to mine complex items like Malachite, Azurite, and so on. For this, you’ll need the Overclocked Mining Laser. That said, there’s a problem if you only use the Overclocked Mining Laser.

The upgraded option mines faster and better, but it has limited durability. The laser will eventually break down and you can’t repair it. Instead, you’ll need to replace it entirely. If you do this frequently, it’s going to be expensive.

Hence, it’s best to use the combination of the Simple and Overclocked Mining Lasers. The following section will explain how to switch between the two to make the best use of your tools.

You’ll eventually unlock the Hi-Pi, Overclocked Hi-Pi, and Cooling Lasers. You should always carry the Simple Mining Laser to alternate with your more advanced mining laser (whichever it might be).

Which Mining Laser should you use in SpaceCraft

When you mine, you’ll notice that the name of the mineral of the mineral node appears in three different colors.

  • Red: Your selected laser can’t mine it.
  • Yellow: Your selected laser is weak, but it will take longer to break down the node.
  • White: Your selected laser is strong enough to break down the node efficiently.

You can choose your mining laser based on what type of mineral node you want to mine.

  • Crude mining: Simple Laser
  • Simple mining: Simple Laser
  • Overclocked mining: Simple laser (takes long, but it’s still the best option)
  • Hi-Pi Mining: Overclocked Laser or better
  • OC Hi-Pi Mining: Overclocked Laser or better

Mining not only helps you get materials that you can sell for profit, but you’ll also find resources required to build up your base in the space.
