How to gain SR in Call of Duty Season 2 Resurgence ranked mode

Ranking up can be tough, have you tried not dying?

Ranked is back in Call of Duty Warzone’s Resurgence mode. Unfortunately, it won’t return to standard Battle Royale playlists until later in the year. For now, you’ll have to grind your rank on Fortune’s Keep, the new Resurgence map for season two and the only place you can get a rank in Warzone.

Resurgence ranked mode and how it works

Playing ranked will get you one of seven skill divisions that range from Bronze to Iridescent. After each match, you’ll gain or lose SR based on your performance. Your performance is based on placement, kills, assists, and squad kills.

SR points earned for kills and assists are worth more when fewer enemy teams are left in the game. Then, a bonus is awarded based on where you finish. Additionally, a deployment fee is deducted from your SR total before every match. The fee is higher for higher-ranked players.

For new seasons, your rank will be set back three tiers below your final ranking of the previous season.

Placement gets you stars, SR, and additional kill/assist SR

Call of Duty Warzone Resurgence ranked divisions

Stars are awarded for finishing the match in the top eight, five, or for being the final team standing. Each placement will earn you one, two, or three stars respectively. Additionally, the following SR is awarded to teams for finishing in each of these placements during a ranked Resurgence match:

  • 14 teams remaining: 0 SR
  • 10 teams remaining: 15 SR
  • 8 teams remaining: 30 SR
  • 6 teams remaining: 45 SR
  • 5 teams remaining: 60 SR
  • 4 teams remaining: 80 SR
  • 3 teams remaining: 100 SR
  • 2 teams remaining: 125 SR
  • 1 team remaining: 150 SR

Next, you’ll see a boost in SR rewards for your kills and assists based on how many teams are left in the match. All numbers are adjusted from previous versions of ranked Warzone to compensate for the lower player count and faster Resurgence gameplay.

  • 9 teams remaining: 5 SR per kill/assist, 2 SR per non-assisted kill.
  • 8 teams remaining: 7 SR per kill/assist, 3 SR per non-assisted kill.
  • 3 teams remaining: 15 SR per kill/assist, 7 SR per non-assisted kill.

New seasonal SR challenges to help you rank up fast

Call of Duty Warzone Resurgence Ranked mode

New with Call of Duty Warzone’s season two update and ranked Resurgence are seasonal SR challenges. These challenges, which are viewable in-game on the menus, provide once-per-season challenges to complete, offering SR based on difficulty.

  • First kill or assist of a match: 100 SR
  • 10 kills or assists: 100 SR
  • 25 kills or assists: 100 SR
  • 50 kills or assists: 100 SR
  • 100 kills or assists: 100 SR
  • Reach top 8 in a match: 100 SR
  • Reach top 5 in a match: 100 SR
  • Reach top 3 in a match: 100 SR
  • Win a match: 200 SR

Additionally, ranked challenges this season include new ones to unlock cosmetics and other items. For example, finishing first in a ranked Resurgence game gets you the “Popped Off” charm for your guns.

  • Finish in the top 8, 25 times: “Melted” large decal
  • Finish in the top 5, 10 times: “Pro Issue” Striker SMG blueprint
  • Finish first: “Popped Off” charm
  • Get 50 kills or assists: “WZ Season 2 Competitor” sticker
  • Get 250 kills or assists: “WZ Ranked Play Season 2” loading screen
  • Get 1,000 kills or assists: “WZ Season 2 Ranked Veteran” weapon camo

Try not to die in ranked Resurgence

Finally, another new addition to ranked mode for the Resurgence playlist is SR death fees. Simply put, if you die, you’ll lose SR. “Resurgence allows for multiple deaths per match, but a skilled Ranked Player’s focus on each match should be to place high, with high kills and low deaths,” a developer blog said.

Although losing 15 SR per death can certainly damage your rank, you won’t lose more SR in a match than your deployment fee. For example, if it costs 100 SR to deploy and you plummet to your death when you drop in, and you won’t lose any SR. However, if you get a few kills or assists and raise your -100 SR to -60 SR and die, you’ll drop back down to -75 SR.
