A nutty error that gets in the way of your time at sea.

Like most MMOs, Sea of Thieves is subject to errors and server outages that can impede the gameplay experience for players who want to plunge into colossal waves.

Sea of Thieves welcomes you into its massive open ocean world and asks you to explore it alongside more than 40 million others. You’ve got to work your way up from nothing to the point where you own a ship that you can crew with friends or randoms and tackle even tougher challenges for the best loot in the game. However, issues such as the Hazelnutbeard error can get in the way of this and really ruin your motivation for playing if you don’t know how to fix them.

To fix the Hazelnut error in Sea of Thieves, you need to double-check your internet connection before trying to launch the game and get into a session again. This could mean that your internet is down, your Wi-Fi router isn’t connecting to your device, or your device is having trouble connecting.

When this happens to me, I check if the internet is working on my computer or phone. If it is, I then check if my device is connected to it because sometimes it can say it’s connected, but when I run a test, it fails. Finally, I restart my device, and that usually does the trick. If that doesn’t work, though, restarting the wi-fi router always works.

The Hazelnutbeard error in Sea of Thieves is caused by players not being able to connect to the game’s servers. Developer Rare advises that players check their internet connection to fix the error, indicating that it has nothing to do with the game’s servers at all.

This error could crop up anytime because it’s all about your hardware. I find that making sure there won’t be any outages with my provider before a big update launch is a good idea because it helps avoid any issues when the time comes to actually play.

Of course, sometimes, there’s no way to avoid these issues. If your internet provider is going to have some downtime right when you want to play Sea of Thieves, you could always tether from your smartphone or make sure you’re somewhere else that has reliable internet on the day you want to play.
