Marathon‘s Server Slam is now live on PC and consoles, and some players are experiencing input issues during their gaming sessions.
Thankfully, Bungie has officially acknowledged the issues. While a permanent fix is yet to arrive during Server Slam, here’s what you can try to alleviate the issues temporarily.
How to fix input issues in Marathon
Most of the reported input issues, according to Bungie, are happening on the PC version of the game. This is likely due to conflicts with streaming, but third-party utilities can also cause the problem.
- If you’re streaming the game, you should stream the whole screen. If you’re using a streamer overlay, you should aim to showcase that as well, instead of only transmitting the game’s window.
- If you’re not streaming and still getting input issues, you should disable the Steam Overlay. You can do so by going inside the game and then toggling off “Enable the STeam Overlay while in-game”. Doing so, however, will restrict some of the fetures so remember that in mind.
- If the problem still persists, it could be due to the use of third-party utilities that might not yet have support for the Server Slam client. If that happens, close the third-party utility app. If you also have any software that captures and/or shares your screen, close it as well.
In simpler words, the input issues seem to be happening due to screen overlays. For the timebeing, the best solution is to not use them as much as possible. Hopefully, Bungie will be quick to fix the problem, and there won’t be any such occurrence upon full launch of the game on March 5.
While the graphical side of things appears to be pretty well-optimized, you can further make some tweaks if you’re on PC. This will help you to get a smooth experience and prevent lags and stutters of any kind.
