Doom: The Dark Ages Premium Edition players have run into a pickle on Steam. As of writing, there appears to be a major problem, as the Premium Edition doesn’t load the Revelations DLC. Unfortunately, this is either a bug or just delayed work on the part of Valve’s servers.
Here’s what you can do to make it work (this is an experimental method that worked for me).
How to get Revelations DLC for Doom: The Dark Ages Premium Edition
The Premium Edition of Doom: The Dark Ages entitles you to instant access to the Revelations DLC. While Steam does offer you the opportunity to purchase the DLC separately, there’s no need to spend an extra $20.
Here’s what you can do if you can’t load the Revelations DLC.
- Restart Steam and check if there’s an update of approximately 19 GB. If yes, then go to the game in your Steam library.
- Check your DLC section and see if you can find Revelations in there. If yes, you’ll be able to play the game.
- If not, you can wait for Steam to pop a notification that says that Revelations has been added to your library.
- There are two more ways to resolve the problem, reportedly. These are largely trial-and-error that you can try instead of being at the mercy of Steam. It feels better than doing nothing.
- Open the properties (for Doom: The Dark Ages) and do a file integrity check. This can solve the problem since the file integrity check also detects the DLC files that you have already downloaded on Steam. It will also redownload any missing files.
- Another alternative is to create a clean reinstallation of the game. However, you’ll be downloading almost 100 GB of data.
If these methods don’t work, the only alternative is to wait. Please don’t buy the DLC separately because your Premium Edition includes the complete Revelations DLC. Once you get the DLC to work, you’ll also gain access to the updated Ripatorium 3.0 maps.
Bethesda is also aware of the issue, and they’re currently working on a fix. If my method doesn’t work, please wait a while, and it should get resolved on its own.
