As you explore in Minecraft, you’ll come across all kinds of unique mobs, many of which possess special abilities and ways to interact with them. Sulfur Cubes are one of the coolest and most exceptional mobs you can find.
This entity wasn’t always part of Minecraft, so there’s a good chance you may not know how to actually come into contact with one. There are many unique regions to explore, but only one area where you can actually meet this creature, so here’s how to find Sulfur Cubes in Minecraft.

Where to find Sulfur Cubes in Minecraft

Sulfur Cubes are exclusively found in the Sulfur Caves biome in Minecraft. While the vast majority of mobs can be found throughout quite a few different regions, there are some special ones that can only exist in one area, and Sulfur Cubes are one such entity.
Within this region, Sulfur Cubes exist in groups of around two to four. They seem to generally be pretty rare, though, so even when you’re in the right region, tracking them down is quite difficult.
Sulfur Cubes only have about a 32 percent chance of spawning in Sulfur Caves where the light level is zero. It’s a fairly low chance in comparison to most other mobs, so if luck isn’t on your side, it might take you a lot of searching to find one.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to speed up the process for finding a Sulfur Cube. All you can do is scour every inch of the Sulfur Caves you find and specifically search around the darkest corners you can find, as this is where they have the best chance of appearing. Hostile mobs love these dark spots too, though, so be careful during your hunts. You can also listen for them, as they make a unique, squishy, jumping sound as they hop around.

What do Sulfur Cubes do in Minecraft?
Sulfur Cubes are passive mobs that can absorb full-sized blocks. Upon feeding this mob a block, a different Sulfur Cube archetype is activated, thus triggering an array of unique abilities and effects.
Although this mob is passive and will never intentionally hurt players, it can unintentionally cause damage if you activate one of the two dangerous archetypes, which are Explosive and Hot. Otherwise, though, this creature is just a harmless friend you can interact with for fun.
How to remove blocks from Sulfur Cube in Minecraft
You can remove a block that’s been absorbed by a Sulfur Cube using Shears. Killing them also gets the job done if you’re just trying to get your block back, but with how rare they are, it’s best to avoid this method and instead employ shears to get what you need.

There are plenty of other tricky aspects of Minecraft you might need some help navigating once you finish hunting for Sulfur Cubes. Next, you might consider working on making a Copper Golem, getting the Lava Chicken music disc, finding a Golden Dandelion, and getting all copper tools, weapons, and armor.
