Minecraft has all kinds of unique biomes you can venture to, most of which come with special mobs, blocks, and other such assets that can’t be found anywhere else. One of the many biomes you might be searching for is a Sulfur Cave.

Tracking down any singular biome can be tricky, as there are plenty, and you have no way to control which spawns in your world. There are some ways to make this process easier, though, so here’s how to find Sulfur Caves in Minecraft.

Like all biomes, the Sulfur Cave region generates randomly in all worlds, which means there’s no guaranteed way to find one without cheats. Unlike many other biomes that only exist underground, though, this one also generally bleeds into the surface area, which makes finding it a lot easier.

To locate a Sulfur Cave biome, scan the overworld area for Sulfur Springs, which are bubbling, steamy pools of water surrounded by yellow Sulfur Spikes. Anytime you come across one, you can dig right underneath to find the underground cave portion of this biome. Unfortunately, not every Sulfur Cave biome is marked by Sulfur Springs on the surface, so sometimes, you’ll simply have to explore caves in the hopes that you find one instead.

The Sulfur Cave region is a rather unique one since it generally exists both in the main overworld area and underground. Both parts are classified as being part of the official biome, but to encounter most of the features this area offers, you’ll want to head underground.

How to use the locate Sulfur Cave biome command in Minecraft

If you’re okay with using cheats to get there, you can skip the searching and instantly locate a Sulfur Cave biome using a handy cheat command. Open the chat box and type out the following command to reveal the coordinates of the closest Sulfur Cave biome.

  • /locate biome minecraft:sulfur_caves

Sulfur Caves are the home of the Sulfur Cube mob. This special entity can only be found within this region, so if you’re hoping to activate some Sulfur Cube archetypes, you must venture to this area. Other mobs, like Creepers, Skeletons, Zombies, and similar entities known to wander caves, can spawn here, too, but they’re not exclusive to this biome.

Within this biome, you’ll also find lots of blocks you won’t encounter anywhere else. This includes Cinnabar, Sulfur, Sulfur Spikes, and Potent Sulfur, all of which are situated throughout the region and along smaller, special landmarks throughout it, like Sulfur Springs and Sulfur Pools. You can craft these blocks into all kinds of other variants, like Cinnabar Stairs, Polished Sulfur, Sulfur Brick Slabs, and Polished Cinnabar Walls.

If you need a break from exploring Sulfur Caves, there’s plenty to do elsewhere in your Minecraft world. Some key tasks worth tackling include getting all copper tools, weapons, and armor, finding a Golden Dandelion, getting the Lava Chicken music disc, and making a Copper Golem.
