How to cure Vampirism in Oblivion Remastered

Not as cool as you might think

Vampirism is a serious disease in Oblivion Remastered, but there are different ways to address it.

There are many ways to contract the disease, and knowing them will help you to avoid the problem in the first place. However, there are two easy ways to solve the problem once you do get afflicted, along with an additional method of using console commands. Let’s sink our teeth into the subject, shall we?

How do you contract Vampirism in Oblivion Remastered?

Vampirism, officially known in the game as Porphyric Hemophilia, can be contracted while fighting vampires in the following ways:

  • Physical scratches while fighting vampires
  • Eating a Beating Heart in the Unearthing Mehrunes Razor quest
  • Through the Dark Brotherhood questline.

Becoming a vampire has its benefits, but the downsides outweigh them—you won’t be able to step into sunlight for starters. Hence, it’s best to cure yourself of the disease in case you contract it.

How to cure Vampirism in Oblivion Remastered

It’s easier to cure Vampirism before it fully takes over.

  • Eat any food item that has Cure Disease effect
  • Drink any potion that has a Cure Disease effect
  • Cast any spell that has a Cure Disease effect
  • Go to a Chapel or Wayshrine to receive a Blessing.

If you have completely become a vampire, it’s a lot harder to cure the disease. There are only two options currently available in Oblivion Remastered.

Complete the Vampire Cure quest

The Vampire Cure is a lengthy quest, but it’s one of two available ways to cure complete Vampirism.

  • Talk with Vicente Valiteri or other healers to cure your Vampirism.
  • Go to Arcane University in the Imperial City and talk with Raminus Polus.
  • Speak with Hal-Liurz to set up an appointment with the Count.
  • Go to Drakelove and find Melisande.
  • Melisande will require five Grand Soul Gems.
  • Find all the items and hand them over to Melisande.
  • Leave and return to the same location to get the curing potion from Melisande. This potion will cure you from complete Vampirism.

Use the Font of Renewal

It’s easier to use the Font of Renewal compared to completing Vampire Cure. However, you’ll need access to the Vile Lair DLC. Additionally, you won’t be able to complete Vampire Cure if you opt for this step.

  • Follow the Deepscorn Hollow quest, and go to the Deepscorn Hollow house near Leyawiin.
  • Go to the Font of Renewal.
  • You’ll find Purgeblood Crystal Formations. Take some Purgeblood Salts.
  • Enter the water. You’ll find an object in the middle. Interact with it to cure your Vampirism.

If you go for one of these two permanent cures, you’ll never be able to change into a vampire. Keep that in mind when making your decision.
