Having your own dungeons will be immensely helpful since you can be in charge of what the loot will look like. You can also upgrade the dungeons as you see fit, but first, you’ll have to construct the place. The complete process is pretty easy once you understand the finer nuances.

The process begins by finding Vaal Beacons, which are randomly placed across different levels of the map in Path of Exile 2. They are large disks on the ground surrounded by bosses. To activate the beacon, defeat all the nearby enemies, which will also fetch you a reward.

Repeat the process a total of six times to open a portal to the The Vaal Ruins, aka The Temple.

Making the Temple

Once you are inside a new version of the Temple by traveling using the Portal, you’ll find a Waypoint and a console. Use the console to open the dungeon map. You’ll find six random titles on the map. All six of these titles will expand when you place the Temple, and they will all have unique challenges.

Select a tile, and you’ll get its details. The nature and rewards you get from a specific room will vary. Some of them will allow you to farm crafting materials and similar things, while others will likely have a workbench for you to upgrade your gear. Certain ones will upgrade adjacent tiles. When a tile levels up, you’ll face a harder challenge for greater rewards. The ultimate aim is to reach the final room by constantly expanding the Temple. To do so, you’ll have to find and activate more Vaal Beacons.

Path of Exile 2 late game Vaal Ruins challenge

Once you defeat Doryani in Act 3, he will allow you to return to an older version of the Temple, as mentioned above. Your objective is to use the portal to stop Atziri, the Queen of Vaal. At this stage, your Temple is likely to have expanded multiple times, and there will be more types of rooms compared to the six tiles that you had in the beginning. It will take a while to reach this late-game stage, and you’ll discover plenty of intricate details along the way.
