How to complete the Stage Actors quest in Octopath Traveler 2

There are four endings!

Stage Actors is a early-to-midgame quest in Octopath Traveler 2. It’s found in the northeastern corner of Tropu’hopu, near where the stage is located. Here you’ll find a Stage Director that tells you he is looking for “actors who know how to brawl.” This might lead you to believe you’ll resolve this quest by recruiting a certain NPC and bringing them to the Stage Director. Fortunately, the solution is even more straightforward than that.

To complete this quest, use any Path Action on the Stage Director that triggers an encounter. This includes Hikari’s Challenge, Ochette’s Provoke, Osvald’s Mug, and Temenos’ Coerce. The Stage Director is challenging for where you likely are in the game’s progression, though fortunately there’s an easy way to finish this fight. Temenos can be built to easily resolve Coerce encounters in a couple turns, even if he’s at a low level. To find out how this build works, check out our dedicated guide here.

Here’s the fun part: depending on which character you use, you’ll trigger a different cutscene where the Stage Director will recruit you into the play instead. The play completely changes with each character, so definitely try to complete the quest with whoever’s your favorite. I can personally vouch that Temenos’ scene is very entertaining, so if you don’t know who to pick, I’d go with him.

Completing the quest awards a Physical Belt and 4,500 Leaves. The Physical Belt is a powerful accessory that gives 65 Phys. Atk and 50 Phys. Def, so the reward is well worth the effort. Make sure to look up the other outcomes on YouTube if you’re curious!
