How to start The Proud Child of the Wilds in Monster Hunter Wilds
To begin the challenge, you have to speak with the quest NPC, aka Alma, at a camp. Go all the way down to the Free Challenge Quest section, and you’ll find The Proud Child of the Wilds over there. To begin the quest, you need to be at HR 100, and you can play in a group of four. To complete the quest, you need to slay an Arch Tempered Arkveld within 50 minutes.

To find the Arkveld easily, spawn at Area 13: Hidden Cave Campsite. Then, head to Area 15, where you’ll find the monstie to slay. While the AT Arkveld will move to Area 14, you can prevent that by using Lure Pods. This is highly recommended as it saves plenty of time.
How to complete The Proud Child of the Wilds in Monster Hunter Wilds
Let’s begin with the weapon that you’ll want to use. The AT Arkveld’s major weakness is Dragon. As for its parts, you’ll want to target its chainblade wings to break them. While raw damage is the priority, focus on elemental skills like Dragon Attack that can directly exploit the monster’s weakness. If you have the Gogma Artian weapons, you can use the full set to utilize the extra Set Bonus and Group skills.

Irrespective of your kit, you’ll want to raise your Defense to tank more damage. Similarly, focus on skills like Evade Extender and Evade Window to raise your dodge chances. If you can get +20 Dragon Resistance, it will make you immune to Dragonblight. You can also use Nulberries for the same reason, but the method is slightly cumbersome.
Once the combat starts, you’ll want to focus on the Arkveld’s chainblade wings with your Dragon-element weapons. Repeat the damage, and you’ll knock the creature out of its Unleashed State. While the Arkveld will raise its frequency of attack, it will give you more openings simultaneously.
You should also look to target the Wylk crystals generated by the monstie’s attacks with the use of elemental slinger ammo. To do so, lure the AT Arkveld on the crystals before setting them off for the extra damage.
You’ll also want to bring extra materials to craft the Flash Pod. This item can be used when the Arkveld is in the air to get a guaranteed knockdown, which will allow you to get a long window of uninterrupted attacks.
The objective of this quest is to slay the monstie within certain time limits. The quicker you do that, the better your rank and rewards will be.
