How to complete the Proof of Innocence quest in Octopath Traveler 2

You donā€™t have to look far

The Proof of Innocence is part of a series of quests involving the court guard Meylan in Octopath Traveler 2. To complete it, youā€™re tasked with finding someone who can back up the alibi of an innocent person on trial. This, of course, sounds a bit overwhelming at first. Someone in Timberain obviously has the answer youā€™re looking for, but who?

Fortunately, the solution to this quest is shockingly simple. In fact, you donā€™t have to travel far at all to find it.

Who do you need to find for the Proof of Innocence quest in Octopath Traveler 2?

From the courthouse in Timberain, travel to the path on your left. On the bridge, youā€™ll see an NPC called ā€œSickly Womanā€ who will provide you with the proof youā€™re looking for. Sheā€™ll be visible regardless of the time of day, so use either the Allure, Guide, Befriend, or Hire Path Actions to temporarily add her to your team. If your party is strong enough to reach Timberain, you’ll be plenty capable of recruiting the Sickly Woman no matter which action you choose.

With this step resolved, walk back to Meylan and talk with him. This will trigger a few scenes showing the resolution of the quest. Your reward for your herculean effort of walking a few steps is 11,000 Leaves, a Nourishing Nut, and an Olive of Life. Thatā€™s all there is to it! Of course, you still have more adventures with Meylan to attend to following this quest. However, thatā€™s a matter to address another day.
