How to complete The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape quest in Tears of the Kingdom

The pit, I was in a pit

Recommended Videos

Look, we’ve all been there. Sometimes we’re at the top of our game. And sometimes, like one particular horn player inĀ The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we end up in a pit. Luckily, Link and the player are here to help with The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape.

While you can stumble upon this side adventure in the open world, The Hornist’s Dramatic Escape is a quest you’ll need to complete to get all the Great Fairies inĀ Tears of the Kingdom. Eustus, the trapped hornist in need of help, is part of the Stable Trotters. And you’ll need to help him out in order to complete the Serenade to Mija side adventure, opening that particular Great Fairy location for business.

Where to find Eustus the hornist inĀ TOTK

If you’re starting from the Serenade to Mija quest, talk to the maestro, and he’ll point you toward the Tabantha Bridge Stable. Once there, some locals can inform you that Eustus set off not long ago towards Rito Village, with music and food, across the Tabantha Great Bridge.

Chase after him, and you’ll see he didn’t get far. Eustus crashed his cart into a pit west of the Great Bridge.

Eustus needs to get out. But Eustus, the dramatic hornist that he is, cannot leave his cart behind either. Link will have to save both.

How to get Eustus and his cart out of the hole inĀ TOTK

It’s important to remember that both EustusĀ andĀ his cart have to leave the hole. So don’t be like me and solve this problem without Eustus in the equation.

Luckily, you don’t have to go far or even expend any Zonai devices to get both parties out of the pit. There are some balloons and heat-generating devices nearby which, combined, make for a quick climb up the Y-axis.

Once the hornist has completed his dramatic escape, Eustus will thank you. Alongside making his way back to the Snowfield Stable, where you can finish out the Serenade to Mija side adventure, Eustus will also give you something else quite valuable: three combs of honey.

If you haven’t completed the side adventure Honey, Bee Mine yet, which is also part of the Great Fairy quest line, doĀ notĀ sell, cook, eat, or otherwise misplace these. This will make for an easy quest completion later on down the line.

Otherwise, head back to Snowfield in the north and you can get to work serenading that fairy.
