How to complete First Hit in Gray Zone Warfare

You can find the Criminal Leader near the Marketplace

After completing the Radio Silence task for Handshake, he’ll give you the task First Hit. The First Hit task has you taking out a more advanced enemy for the first time, not just the basic criminal enemies you find scattered throughout the starter town. Here is how to complete the First Hit task in Gray Zone Warfare and where you can find the Criminal Leader that you need to take out.

Where to find the Criminal Leader

All you need to do to complete the First Hit task in Gray Zone Warfare is eliminate the Criminal Leader in the nearby town. Unlike the standard criminal enemies you’ve encountered so far, the Criminal Leader can take a little more damage while also dishing out some more damage as well.

You can find the Criminal Leader wandering around the Marketplace section in your nearby town. He’s easily identified by the red beret atop his head as well as his stylish tinted Lennon shades. The Criminal Leader will often have another criminal or two with him, so you’ll need to either carefully take them out first, or focus all your damage on the Criminal Leader to complete the objective and then get out of there.

Here is where you can find the Criminal Leader for each faction:

  • Mithras Security Systems – 171, 119 at the Marketplace in the town of Nam Thaven
  • Crimson Shield International – 141, 162 at the Marketplace in the town of Kiu Vongsa
  • Lamang Recovery Initiative – 201, 162 at the Marketplace in the town of Pha Lang

I found the Criminal Leader wandering around on the second floor of the massive Marketplace building, which is where he spawns. He can also be found out in the streets around the big Marketplace building, especially if you’ve engaged in another firefight that has drawn his attention.

How to complete the First Hit task

Immediately after you kill the Criminal Leader, your task objective should update to indicate you have neutralized him. Even though it’s not required, I recommend looting the Criminal Leader. You can get his uniquely stylish Red Beret as well as his Lennon sunglasses. If you’re lucky, he can also drop a Marketplace Key that can be used to unlock the room on the second floor of the Marketplace that often has some nice loot in it including some more powerful weaponry.

With this objective complete, head to the nearest LZ and catch a ride on the chopper back to base camp. Once there, hit the Tab key to open your UI and go to Vendors then Handshake. Click on the First Hit task and you should see a yellow Complete button in the bottom right. Click this button and you will complete the First Hit task and Handshake will give you the following rewards:

  • 1x Exfil Helmet
  • $4,500
  • 400 Experience
  • 100 Reputation with Handshake
