Once you’ve finished An Alarming Development and got Oswald to friendship level 7 in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll be able to unlock his next friendship quest. Thankfully, this one is a little more straightforward and involves less of a grind than the previous one.
A Cockamamie Contest will see you having to compete with Oswald as other Villagers judge your performance. As it turns out, Oswald is the type of rabbit who isn’t very good at meeting the assignment requirements, so you’ll win the competition every time. Well, almost every time, because he’s also a bit of a cheater.
How to complete A Cockamamie Contest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Oswald is longing for some friendly competition, but he’s not quite prepared. He needs to undergo the revulcanization process (a method to strengthen rubber by exposing it to heat and pressure) to get stronger. To do this, Oswald wants some spice of the edible variety and asks for Tandoori Chicken with a side serving of five raw Chili Peppers.
Here’s the recipe you’ll need to make Tandoori Chicken:
- 1 Chili Pepper
- Grown from seeds purchased from Goofy’s Stalls in the Sunlit Plateau and the Glittering Dunes for 20 Star Coins each. They take 45 minutes to grow and need watering only once
- 1 Poultry
- Purchased from Gaston’s Stall for 500 Star Coins each
- 1 Cumin
- Found by foraging the large white flowers in Ancient’s Landing
- 1 Paprika
- Found by foraging the plants in the Glittering Dunes
Once you’ve got these items, cook up the Tandoori Chicken and give it to Oswald inside his house, alongside the raw Chili Peppers. Once he’s eaten, the revulcanization process will be complete, but you’ll have a whole new issue to deal with.
After eating the spicy dish, black and white fires will spawn around Oswald which need to be put out, but not before taking a photo of Oswald at his request. Take the photo, then use your Watering Can to put out the fires before talking to Oswald once more to move on to the main part of this quest — the three challenges.
How to complete Eve’s challenge in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Track down Eve and talk to her to see if she has any ideas for a challenge that both you and Oswald can complete. As it turns out, she’s looking for some shiny gifts for Wall-E and requests that you and Oswald compete to see who can find the best gifts.
To complete this challenge, you’ll need to mine for the following gems:
- 5 Evergems
- Mined in The Ruins in Ancient’s Landing
- 5 Bumblestone
- Mined in The Borderlands in the Glittering Dunes
- 5 Spinel
- Mined in The Promenade and The Grove in the Wild Tangle
Once you’ve got these shiny rocks, head back to Oswald to see what he’s produced. He’ll give you some coal, which he says Wall-E can compress into his very own Diamonds. Eve will disagree and crown you the winner of her challenge.
How to complete Rapunzel’s Challenge in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Rapunzel is pretty well known around Eternity Isle at this point for whipping out her easel and painting at random, so it will come as no surprise that her challenge involves painting. She wants to paint a still life and, to do so, requests that you and Oswald cook up some colorful food that she can turn into art on her canvas.
You’ll be given the option to talk to Remy as part of this challenge. Talking to him doesn’t change anything, he just gives you a hint about Ruby Lentils for the final dish.
To complete this challenge, you’ll need to make the following dishes:
Blueberry Pie
- 1 Blueberry
- Foraged from bushes on Dazzle Beach and in the Forest of Valor
- 1 Wheat
- Grown from seeds purchased from Goofy’s Stall in Peaceful Meadow for 5 Star Coins. Takes one minute to grow and needs watering once
- 1 Butter
- Purchased from Chez Remy for 190 Star Coins
Barbecued Pretty Pink Starfish
- 1 Pretty Pink Starfish
- Fished from golden fishing spots in The Oasis area of the Glittering Dunes
- 1 Paprika
- Found by foraging the plants in the Glittering Dunes
Ruby Masoor Dal
- 1 Chili Pepper
- Grown from seeds purchased from Goofy’s Stalls in the Sunlit Plateau and the Glittering Dunes for 20 Star Coins each. They take 45 minutes to grow and need watering only once
- 1 Tomato
- Grown from seeds purchased from Goofy’s Stalls on Dazzle Beach or in the Wild Tangle for 8 Star Coins each. They take 25 minutes to grow and require two waterings before harvesting
- 1 Ruby Lentils
- Grown from seeds purchased from Goofy’s Stall in the Wild Tangle for 250 Star Coins each. They take two hours to grow and need watering once.
Once you’ve made these three recipes, find Oswald to find out what he’s bringing to the table. As it turns out, he’s thrown some ink over a carrot and called it a day (which looks pretty cool, admittedly). Rapunzel will decide that his efforts aren’t enough, rewarding you with the crown for this challenge.
How to complete Gaston’s challenge in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Gaston’s challenge is arguably the easiest to complete out of the three, as all you need to do is destroy the following things in the Glittering Dunes:
- 3 Copper Rocks
- 3 Glass Staligmites
However, once you’ve completed this step and returned to Oswald to see how he’s fared, you’ll discover that he’s made a bit of a mess of things by simply ‘erasing’ the objects, leaving holes in the floor that might serve as something of a trip hazard if left alone.

The four holes that you need to fill in can be found in The Borderlands. To remove them, simply approach them and press the interact button and you’ll stomp them away.
Once you’ve done this, head back to Gaston to see who won. Despite insulting your strength, he will crown you the winner of his challenge.
How to take part in the foot race against Oswald in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Having completed all three challenges, talk to Oswald once more and he’ll tell you that he now wants a foot face to determine who is the true winner of the day. He’ll head off to the starting line, leaving you to make your own way there.
The race begins in The Courtyard of Ancient’s Landing, goes through the Wild Tangle and then finishes inside the Cave of Wonders in the Glittering Dunes. The route is pretty easy to navigate, thanks to the obvious black and white balloon arches that you need to pass through.
Spoiler alert, you can’t win this race, and believe me I tried because no one wants to lose a race against a cartoon rabbit. Cooking meals and using them to give yourself a boost doesn’t help, because regardless of how quickly you make it to the finish line, Oswald will be there before you. I won’t tell you how, but needless to say there’s something dodgy at play here.
Once you reach the Cave of Wonders and go inside, keep going until you encounter Oswald and talk to him once more to finish A Cockamamie Contest.
