Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is arguably one of the harder metroidvania’s to conquer, and it’s natural you’ll want to make things easier. Exploring Paris with Rose is fun, but not so much if you fail at almost every step.
Thankfully, the game also allows you to modify the in-game settings to some extent to make things easier.
How to use Custom mode in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse doesn’t have a traditional difficulty option. However, you can clear the game in Custom mode, which allows you to tweak different in-game settings. If you go the Custom mode route, you won’t lose any elements of gameplay. Instead, the game becomes easier based on which settings are enabled.

| Modifier | How it Works |
|---|---|
| Allow Respawn In Front Of Boss Doors | If a boss defeats you, you’ll respawn outside the boss door. |
| Damage Dealt | You can increase your damage by up to five times. However, you can reduce it to make things more challenging. |
| Maximum Number Of Potions | Allows you to have more potions simultaneously in your inventory. |
| Prevent Death | Rose can’t die irrespective of how much damage you take. |
| Damage Received From Enemies | Allows you to increase/reduce the incoming damage. |
| Damage Received From Traps | Allows you to modify the damage done by traps. |
| Experience Gained | Helps you to gain XP by up to three times. |
Naturally, some modifiers like Prevent Death completely breaks the game since you can’t die, so everything becomes easy. However, if you want to enjoy Belmont’s Curse like that, who am I to judge!
