It’s been a while since Destiny 2 fans could make new cookies in The Dawning, but this year, they can bake Dark Matter Drizzlers for the Dean of the Aionians in Caldera. It’s a simple recipe, and it’s required to make the most out of the festivities.

Baking all available cookie recipes at least once lets you masterwork Eva Levante’s Holiday Oven, which trims the cost of any recipes you make. If you’ve been an avid chef, you only need the two new recipes in this year’s Dawning: Dark Matter Drizzlers for the Dean and Peanut Butter Paw Prints for Archie. Here’s how you can make the first of the two new cookies and advance the event quest.

How to bake Dark Matter Drizzlers in the Dawning in Destiny 2

As usual, making Dark Matter Drizzlers requires three ingredients:

  • Ether Cane
  • Dark Frosting
  • Essence of Dawning (15 for the first time and 10 after you’ve masterworked Eva’s oven)

Ether Cane drops by killing Fallen enemies anywhere in the system, whether in the Portal or not. One of our go-to spots for this for years has been the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector in the Cosmodrome, though any Lost Sector or activity with this enemy faction will do.

Dark Frosting, on the other hand, drops by getting kills with Darkness-based elements, meaning Stasis or Strand. Every final blow can drop this, so it shouldn’t take too long to grab at least one for your baking needs.

Lastly, Essence of Dawning is a reward for completing activities. Your best bet here is doing Portal activities, especially the faster ones. The quickplay Vanguard Alerts playlist is a prime destination for this, since its activities are usually quick and rewarding. The old method of racing through Lost Sectors or public events to stock up on this resource doesn’t work anymore.

If you just need one of the new cookies for the quest, you should have enough Essence of Dawning that you only need the first two ingredients, so clear out Fallen enemies with any sort of Darkness damage, and you can advance to the next step on the list.

After you’ve made your cookies, hand them to the Dean on Kepler, either in the destination itself or during a Caldera run in Solo Ops.
