Palworld 1.0 has introduced the Awakening system, and we have new ways to power up our Pals. If you are a fan of the Mutation system, you’ll also want to awaken your Pals. Unlike Mutations, Awakening is more accessible as long as you meet the requirements.

How to use the Awakening System in Palworld
Awakening helps you to improve the stats of your Pals permanently. So far, the upgrades appear to range between 7-10% once you awaken them fully. Suffice to say, it’s an endgame mechanic that will be immensely beneficial.
For starters, you’ll need to gain access to the World Tree. If you’re yet to reach the location, here’s our guide on the subject. When you explore the area, you’ll find something called Radiant Gems. You can then use the Gems to create Awakening Crystals.
Here’s a list of all the available Awakening Crystals. As you might have guessed, Radiant Gems and Awakening Crystals are locked to element type.

How to awaken Pals in Palworld
The Awakening mechanism is tied to the endgame, and the first task is to level up a Pal all the way to 80. At least that’s what I followed, and I strongly recommend you do the same.
- Pay attention to the Passive skills and add the Active skills you want. Mutated Pals will also have a better chance of having stronger Passives.
- Raise the trust level to 10. This will take some time.
- Condense the Pal (take advantage of the relaxed requirements).
- Finally, use your Awakening Crystals from the inventory to awaken a Pal.
So far, Radiant Gems appear to be common, and you get them from defeating Pals. However, the same can’t be said about Awakening Crystals that have to be crafted.
This is also a major reason why you shouldn’t randomly awaken your Pals. Once you’re sure about a Pal you want to keep in your endgame party, you can then work towards awakening it to raise its stats.
How to get Awakening Crystals in Palworld
To get Awakening Crystals, you’ll need World Tree Water and Radiant Gems. You’ll also have to unlock and build an Ancient Workbench to prepare the recipe. You can then use the two materials to produce Awakening Crystals to prepare it from the inventory.
