How long is the campaign in Diablo 4?

It’s a huge game

Diablo 4 has officially gone live, bringing Hell and Sanctuary to the masses once more. In an ambitious twist, Diablo 4 takes somewhat of an open world approach. You can freely explore almost anywhere you want, taking on side quests and optional bosses however you see fit.

That said, the main campaign is your highest priority in Diablo 4. You’ll unlock a ton of important features this way, including the bulk of Diablo 4’s high-end content. So naturally, you might wonder how long it’ll take you to finish the main story.

Because Diablo 4 features an open world, this can be a bit hard to gauge. You’ll likely want to complete side content to earn more skill points and potions, which will help you survive the game’s most difficult content. For this reason, expect the main campaign to take 30 hours to complete. This number can go a bit lower if you strictly marathon story quests, or higher if you like clearing all the side content along the way. It will ultimately depend on your playstyle.

That’s the spoiler-free answer. If you don’t mind having a bit of Diablo 4’s structure revealed to you, here’s some information that will help you pace yourself through the campaign.

How many acts are in Diablo 4?

The Diablo 4 campaign contains six acts. Once you finish the prologue, Act 1, 2, and 3 will appear on your map. These tell isolated stories that will converge later, so you can do these in any order that appeals to you. Personally, I recommend completing the acts in order. This will reduce the amount of backtracking you need to do, since these first three acts carve a clean path through different regions of the world. Of course, fast traveling in Diablo 4 is easy, so this really comes down to preference.

That said, Act 4, 5, and 6 must be completed sequentially after you finish the first three. Act 4 mostly exists to put a cap on the first three acts, so this one will go faster than you might expect. Act 5 acts as your last open-ended act in the game, and Act 6 predominately consists of the story’s climax. That said, make sure you set aside a bit of time for the final Act, as this goes on for quite a bit longer than you might initially think. I’ll save the rest of the details for you to discover yourself.

That said, this only scratches the surface of the content in Diablo 4. You’ll still have an absolute ton to do after the main campaign, easily stretching your potential playtime past 100 hours. Make sure to take your time and enjoy the game!
