How does Fast Travel work in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Walking is a young's man game.

The amount of walking in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can almost feel like you are making a long trek to Mordor. Not only can pathways be filled with enemies, but they also come at the cost of stamina to slow down the pace further. So, if you’re tired of these lengthy travels, here’s how Fast Travel works in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Fast Travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2, explained

The two primary means of Fast Travel are Portcrystals and Oxcarts. You’ll initially encounter an Oxcart during the early stages of the journey, which will be marked with its ox symbol on the map. Go on top of the cart and sit on a bench to trigger a response from the driver. They will tell you where they are heading and ask for the fare, typically a small fee of 100 G. When sitting down, hit the option to ‘Doze Off,’ and it will instantly start the Fast Travel process.

Sometimes, you’ll wake up at the designated location; other times, you’ll find yourself face-to-face with an unsightly goblin. It all depends on the route, so just wipe out any nearby foes to clear the path. Also, be wary of the Oxcarts service hours, as they primarily travel during the early morning (pass the time if need be.) But if you want a method that doesn’t involve a surprise attack, Portcrystals are the way to go. Look out for these mystifying objects in cities and towns to activate them for Fast Travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Once the Portcrystal activates, use a Ferrystone to transport you to this destination instantly. Ferrystones can be purchased at any Sundries shop or collectible as loot. I bought mine at Vernworth for a hefty price of 10,000 G, but you may have better luck with another area. Keep in mind that Portcrystals in settlements must be activated first to utilize it. Additionally, up to ten Portcrystals can be placed anywhere you please and moved at any point.

When without Ferrystones or Oxcarts, it’s best to settle down at a camping site, especially at night. Pawns will also start to complain if the group has been walking a tad too much, so be a good master and give them the rest they need.
