Housemarque’s Alienation really snuck up on me

It’s only two weeks away!

I wasn’t able to become invested in Housemarque’s Dead Nation like I was with the studio’s other games, but its next “relentless” twin-stick shooter, Alienation, speaks to me. It’s you and a squad of exosuit-wearing buddies clearing out thousands of aliens to reclaim the planet in drop-in, drop-out co-op. Cooler yet, there’s potential to be invaded by other players who have gone rogue.

Today’s video and accompanying PlayStation Blog post delve a bit more into the different character classes (Tank, Saboteur, Bio-Specialist) and the game’s color-coded loot system.

Enemies can drop guns that have variable specs and abilities, with the potential for further specialization — say, a bigger clip size instead of a boost to damage — and the ability to “reroll some stats.” In other words, the typical shooter-RPG hooks are in here, and that’s fine by me.

Coming off of a recent Helldivers kick, this looks terrific. It’s launching April 26, 2016 on PS4.
