Homebrewers doing Dreamcast remaster of Kojima’s Snatcher

Sweet dreams are made of these

A brand new Dreamcast game came out this week. SEGA’s swansong has proved a fertile grounds in its abandonment. People keep making things for it. Next up is a remaster of Kojima’s Snatcher, the game he did after Metal Gear.

The enhanced visuals and remixed soundtrack of the SEGA CD title come courtesy of CollectorVision. It will ” take some time to complete,” so anyone who dusted off the Dreamcast to play Redux: Dark Matters will have some time to wait.

I appreciate the sentiment. I’ve always wanted to play Snatcher. That and Blade Runner. This won’t help, mind, because I don’t have a Dreamcast. But I appreciate the sentiment. My problem, though, is the work in progress Dreamcast shots.

Maybe it’s just me, but the “enhanced visuals” look worse. Not only was detail sacrificed, but all the saturation and color balancing seems to have gone a bit overboard. Give me the bright, slightly pixelated CD shots over their counterpart any day.
