It’s beginning to look a lot like [insert whatever holiday it is that you celebrate here]! Nintendo has announced that it’s continuing its long-standing money-printing tradition of releasing two limited-edition Nintendo DS bundles for the holidays. Yay!

One bundle will ship with a DS in a new color that Nintendo is calling “Mario Red,” which just means that it’s red and has an “M” on it. That particular bundle will be paired with a copy of New Super Mario Bros. and will cost $149.99.

The second bundle ships with the “Ice Blue” Nintendo DS, and comes packed with a carrying case and Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day. This will also set shoppers back $149.99.

Like I already said, Nintendo slapping together some Nintendo DS bundles for the holidays is not a surprising event. What is surprising are the games they chose to bundle with the system. New Super Mario Bros., while great, was released in 2006. And Brain Age is just as old, and actually has a more recent sequel available.

Isn’t there something less dated Nintendo could bundle into a box and still appeal to customers?

Pokémon™ Ranger: Shadows of Almia and Kirby Super Star™ Ultra are already in demand among casual gamers and younger players. The new Personal Trainer™: Cooking helps people become masterful chefs. And Mystery Case Files™: MillionHeir™ keeps friends and families enthralled with a series of unique seek-and-solve puzzles.
