Unbending and unwavering

Among the immense character creator options in Hogwarts Legacy, there are even ways to customize your wizarding gear. The most powerful and important of them all is your wand, the gateway to dozens of spells for combat and exploration. One of the key aspects of customizing your wand is the wand flexibility.

What is Hogwarts Legacy wand flexibility?

When players visit Ollivander’s Shop in Hogsmeade relatively early in the Hogwarts Legacy main story, they are given the option to customize their wand. One of the options for your wand item is its wand flexibility.

Unlike the other aspects of the wand, such as the core and wood type, flexibility doesn’t necessarily affect its visual qualities. That said, wand flexibility is still a customizable feature.

According to the official Wizarding World website, wand flexibility, otherwise known as rigidity, “denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change” for both the wand and user.

In other words, this shows what type of wizard or witch you are. You might be a rigid person, unbending in your resolve and spells, which could indicate that you are a resilient person. But that could also mean you aren’t as versatile as someone else.

On the other hand, a flexible wand could show that the person plays fast and loose, able to adapt to any scenario. But on the downside, they could waver or bend too much under pressure.

There are several wand flexibility options in Hogwarts Legacy when it comes to determining how your wand works. You can manually choose your flexibility yourself or have it automatically chosen for you through the wand selection quiz via your connected Wizarding World account.

There is a total of 19 options for flexibility for your wand. You can pick any of these in the game, so simply go with whatever best fits your playstyle and personality. They range from quite bendy, meaning that it is the most flexible around, to unyielding.

The latter is what I happen to have for my wand after taking the Wizarding World wand selection quiz.

Does wand flexibility affect gameplay?

You might be wondering how wand flexibility affects your wand and gameplay in Hogwarts Legacy. Oddly enough, it doesn’t do anything at all. Unlike other wand options like wood and style, it doesn’t change the visual appearance of the wand in the slightest.

In addition, it doesn’t seem to affect the player character’s animations, either. As such, simply pick whatever sounds the best to you. Wand flexibility seems to only be there for roleplaying purposes.
