A prodigy of the wizarding world
Hogwarts Legacy’s core premise is all about being a customizable wizard or witch who excels at casting spells of all kind. Be it spells for completing puzzles or combat or even murdering your opponents, there are many different ones that you can cast in the game. Here are all of the Hogwarts Legacy spells and how each of them works.
All Hogwarts Legacy spells, explained
There is a grand total of 26 spells that are available to the player in Hogwarts Legacy. Oddly enough, you can see all 26 of them from the start of the game, even if you haven’t unlocked them. This is available in the spot where you set spells to your hot bar.
Some of these spells are unlocked through the main story, while others are in side quests and assignments from your professors. Here’s how all of them work.
Accio is a main story spell that pulls the enemy or item that you are targeting closer to you. It is available through the main story quest where you attend Charms class.
Alohomora is the lockpicking spell in Hogwarts Legacy. You don’t need to put it on your hot bar to use. It has three different versions, all unlockable through The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament and Demiguise quests.
This spell allows the user to change the appearance of an item in their Room of Requirement. This is found in a side quest known as the Interior Decorating mission.
Arresto Momentum decreases the speed of a target, essentially freezing them in place for a moment. Players can optionally unlock this spell through Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 2.
Avada Kedavra is one of the three unforgivable curses available in Hogwarts Legacy. This is also known as the “killing curse,” allowing the user to essentially murder anyone in their path. You can learn this spell, if you dare, in the side quest In the Shadow of the Relic.
The beast brush is a magical tool you can summon to let you pet and brush the pets you have gathered in your Room of Requirement. You’ll need to take the Beast class during the main story.
Beast food is similar to the brush in being a magical tool for beasts. This allows you to feed your animals and is also in the Beasts class quest.
Bombarda lets the player launch a long-range explosive attack that implodes upon contact with the enemy. The resulting explosion can damage surrounding targets. You can unlock this spell through Professor Howin’s Assignment.
This is a fire elemental magical spell that deals damage from afar. It can also set the enemy on fire. You get this during the main story quest In the Shadow of the Undercroft.
This spell allows the user to create items and place them in the Room of Requirement. It requires the player to complete The Room of Requirement main story quest.
The second of the unforgivable curses, Crucio curses the target and deals damage to them over time. You can optionally get this during the side quest In the Shadow of the Study.
This optional spell blasts a target away from the user. It is unlocked via Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1.
This spell takes the target and brings them down to hit the ground for significant damage. You can unlock it by completing Professor Onai’s Assignment.
Diffindo is a powerful attacking spell that sends out slashing damage from afar. It is found in Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2.
This spell lets the player turn effectively invisible, though enemies can still sense you. You get this during the main story quest known as Secrets of the Restricted Section.
This is another spell for the Room of Requirement that allows the user to make items disappear at will. You get this spell during The Room of Requirement main story quest.
This long-range spell attacks the target, dealing some damage and taking away their weapon in the process. You get this through Professor Hecat’s Assignment 2.
Flipendo flips the target upside down and can even act as a curse with the right upgrade. You get this spell during Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2.
This is the freezing spell that freezes your target in place for a short time. You can get it during Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1.
Imperio is the third and final member of the unforgivable curses. This spell does a few things to the target, beginning by turning them to your side for a short time. While they are on your side, they are cursed and take additional damage. You can get this through the side quest In the Shadow of Time.
This is a short-range spell that is fire-themed. It deals heavy damage to the target and also has a chance of setting them on fire. You can unlock this spell by completing Professor Hecat’s Assignment 1.
This is the levitating spell that lifts targets into the air. It can be used for both combat and solving the various puzzles in the game. You get this when you attend Defense Against the Dark Arts class during the main story.
Lumos turns your wand into a helpful flashlight. This lets you illuminate dark places and see better around them. It can also be used during certain puzzles that require it. You get the Lumos spell early in the game during “The Path to Hogwarts” main story quest.
This spell summons a magical bag that is capable of collecting beasts in the wild. You get it during the main story quest The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom.
Reparo is the repair spell. It allows the witch or wizard to repair an object by turning it back to its original form. You get it in Professor Ronen’s Assignment.
The Transformation spell lets the user turn an object or even person into another object entirely. This is useful for both puzzles and combat alike. You can get it through the optional Professor Weasley Assignment.
Wingardium Leviosa is essentially an upgraded version of Levioso, despite being separate spells. It also allows the user to levitate an object but the difference is they are also able to directly move the object wherever they like. You can get the Wingardium Leviosa spell by completing Professor Garlick’s Assignment 1.
