Hideaki Itsuno says his new project, which could be anything from Rival Schools to Devil May Cry 5, is ‘now under climax’

‘Please expect it’

Hideaki Itsuno is so prolific that it’s tough to list all of his accomplishments. He’s worked on the Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma series, as well as Power Stone, Rival Schools, Capcom vs. SNK 2, and SMT: Nocturne. Right there you have some of the all-time greats, and his first project since 2013 is almost ready to be revealed.

Since last year he’s been buzzing about it, but 2017 came and went without a word from Itsuno. Addressing the wait, he took to twitter to announce: “Happy new year! I am sorry that I can not present a new project last year. The development of the project is now under climax. I am making a great game so please expect it.”

While this would normally be an innocuous sort of update, the fact that this project is in its final stages is interesting as hell. If it’s already near complete we could see a major announcement with a soon-ish release date as they polish it up.
