If you’ve been busy hating on Front Mission Evolved for not being a turn-based strategy game, and have the good fortune to be living in Europe (or have a PAL PlayStation Network account), then you’re in luck, because Square Enix is rereleasing Front Mission 3 to the European PlayStation store, the better to wax nostalgic about those halcyon days of action points and tiles and pressing “End” on the menu a bunch.
Said Larry Sparks of Square Enix Europe:
With the forthcoming release of Front Mission Evolved, the Front Mission series is back with a bang. Before the evolution of the series, we think it’s the perfect time to revisit a previous classic installment with Front Mission 3. We’re very pleased to be able to bring this compelling title to the PlayStation Network.
Be pleased, then, because the game that started it all (for most westerners) is now available to all (Europeans). Then again, some might not be so pleased, as a few long-time Front Mission-aries (heh) blame Front Mission 3 for Front Mission 4‘s lukewarm critical reception and poor sales, which in turn killed off a Front Mission 5 overseas release. But that’s a whole other chain of hatred. For now, just pick this up and combo Knuckles with a Shotgun. Do it.
