Hero Academy Steam has a TF2 team, cross-platform play

If, like me, you’ve frequently heard about Hero Academy from friends but never got around to playing it yourself, you might be compelled to join the hive mind with this latest news. The game is headed to Steam on August 8, 2012 and it’ll come with an exclusive faction made up of Team Fortress 2 characters.

The asynchronous play will be retained; in fact, the iOS and Steam versions of Hero Academy are even going to be compatible with one another. Beyond this cross-platform multiplayer support, the teams you buy in either version will function on all platforms. Of course, to get the TF2 team on iOS, you will need to buy Hero Academy for PC.

Robot Entertainment hasn’t mentioned pricing yet, but this will presumably follow the same model as the mobile game. The studio did mention that the base game on Steam is going to include the Council team as well as Valve’s beloved TF2 classes.
