Well, kind of
It was just last week that we learned Rise of the Tomb Raider would have a season pass. We likely weren’t meant to know quite yet, as it was a “oops, it suddenly showed up on a retailer’s website”-type of thing. At the time, all that was revealed was the price. Now, five days later, we have some context for what we kind of content we’ll get for that $30.
Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s season pass has shown up on the Xbox Store with a full description. It touts “three major releases” along with some content of lesser importance, like weapons and skins. The meat of the DLC is made up of an endurance mode which “challenges you to survive the extreme conditions,” a new tomb that’s home to “an ancient terror” in Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, and a wave-based combat scenario in Cold Darkness Awakened.
It’s conjecture at this point, but it looks like the add-on release schedule will be a nice mix of exploration, survival, and combat — the three core pillars of gameplay. Obviously, this is all a very high-level overview of the content. There’s still a lot to find out about each piece. But, for those who feel the need to take the $30 plunge ahead of time (which you shouldn’t), at least they have a slight idea what they’re getting into.
