Hello Games office flooded over the holidays

Of all the studios this could happen to…

The offices of Joe Danger and No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games were flooded this week, as detailed in a series of tweets by the studio. “A river broke its bank nearby yesterday, and A LOT of water flooded in really quickly. A biblical amount. It was coming in the windows!”

Unfortunately, the damage was severe. “We’ve lost most things — PCs, monitors, furniture, a door, a wall … Lots of personal stuff lost (my console collection! my super rare Neo Geo Pocket!) — that line between home and office is a little blurry.”

Just going to show how great these folks are, Hello Games tweeted yesterday “We’re taking stock today, but already I know we’ll come back stronger 🙂 — all we’ll need is a place to work and a machine to work on :)” and the official No Man’s Sky Twitter had good spirits as well: “If one more person tweets ‘every flood procedural’ I’m gonna… lol each time. Gotta laugh init :)”

I sincerely hope the team had offsite backups but either way, this is going to be a messy situation to work through — and what a time for this to be happening. Best of luck, and hang in there, guys.
