Helldivers 2 Patch 01.000.202 finally fixes mission crashes

Snowballs are back.

After the deployment of Helldivers 2 Patch 01.000.202 today, players are excited for fewer crashes but not for the secrets that might be hidden in the code.

Earlier today, developer Arrowhead Game Studios pushed out Helldivers 2 Patch 01.000.202. Not only does it fix mission and snowball crashes that have been plaguing the game for weeks, but it also brings a slew of fixes for weapons and minor issues that players have been struggling with. It’s worth reading through the patch notes in full if you want to see everything that’s been fixed and all the known issues.

However, fans are guarding themselves against the worst because they feel the developer might just have added a surprise in the form of a new enemy faction.

What comes after the Automatons?

As if to validate the worries of the entire fan base, a mere few hours after Helldivers 2 Patch 01.000.202 was released, the Automatons reappeared in the galaxy with an all-out assault on Super Earth territory. After successfully beating the machine menace and essentially wiping them out in known space, they’ve returned and have triggered the latest Major Order to succeed in at least five planetary defenses.

Over on the game’s subreddit, players aren’t exactly thrilled about having to fight more bots, but they’re ready for the fight. This is because of the game’s recent update and the fact that we actually felt like we were winning. It might be pessimistic, but every Helldivers 2 player knows never to get too comfortable when things are on the up.

There’s always the threat of something new on the horizon too. On Twitter, players were worried about what else the patch was bringing to Helldivers 2 outside of fixes almost immediately. The one thing we all keep expecting is for the Illuminate, an advanced race of aliens, to appear and suddenly assault several sectors of space. While, for now, we only have the Automaton assault to deal with, there’s every reason to expect the Illuminate to appear at any point.
