Helldivers 2 Arc Thrower misfiring scopes misaligned

Helldivers 2 Arc Thrower misfiring and misaligned scopes ‘will be fixed’ in time

You miss 100% of the shots you thought you took.

Despite the recent updates, Helldivers 2 still has some issues. For some, the Arc Thrower misfiring, misaligned scopes, and the Spear simply not working have been constant concerns for Helldivers 2 fans. The good news is that the dev team knows. But fixes are not around the corner.

While chatting it up with players over at the official Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead Games’ senior game designer addressed the aforementioned issues. Alex Kravchenko firmly told the community that issues “should and will be fixed.” But those who are waiting for such a patch may be disappointed to learn that there probably won’t be one for a while. As for how long, that’s for Arrowhead to know.

“Arc thrower misfiring, spear not locking correctly, misaligned scopes — all that should and will be fixed,” Kravchenko told the Helldivers 2 community on Discord. “But it’s a time consuming and iterative process, so the only thing we need is time and your trust.”

The discussion likely turned to the Arc Thrower and rifle scopes following the recent patch. In a bid to shake up the game balance a bit, the Arc Thrower saw some changes and the Anti-Materiel Rifle received a 30% damage buff in the update. And that’s great, save for the fact that the latter often misses its shots even when the aiming reticle is on the money.

The AMR is a powerful weapon of choice, but to get it to work you need to aim the reticle slightly down and to the right of your intended target.

It’s not the only scope that feels off, either. Divers have reported that many, if not most or all, scopes in the game are off. The AMR is typically the one most discussed, as it is highly favored on Automaton missions despite its glaring defect.

The FAF-14 Spear is a powerful Stratagem in Helldivers 2 — when it works. But it’s often under fire by the community due to how unwieldy it is with its lock-on function. I’ve never seen anyone use it in-game since many tend to bring the EAT-17 or Autocannon for that hard-hitting damage.

The Arc Thrower is a community favorite, on the other hand, but it comes with the caveat that it’ll occasionally misfire after being charged. With the weapon’s range shortened from 50m to 35m, its unpredictability is a bit of a problem.

Hopefully, Arrowhead will soon address the concerns over the weapons. The AMR is a fun rifle to wield, but I’d rather my shots miss because I’m using a controller rather than over a cattywampus scope.
