Heian Cursed Technique Tier List

In the tier list above, we ranked every Cursed Technique in Heian based on how good they are both in PvP and PvE. As we can see, not all Cursed Techniques in Heian were created equal. We have the heavy hitters like Shrine and Cursed Energy Discharge that dominate the PVP scene, and then Ratio and Auspicious Beasts that sometimes struggle even against normal enemies.
However, do not take this tier list out of context. None of the Cursed Techniques listed above is inherently bad. Each of them is unique and allows for a specific playstyle. Test them and find out which one is best for you using the tier list as your guide.

If you are a beginner in Heian, I recommend going for something simple and strong, such as Sword Saint or Blazing Courage. They can carry you early until you learn the ropes of the game. Once you are more experienced, the go-to are Shrine and Cursed Energy Discharge, because of their utility, high damage, and overall versatility in combat. The easiest one to get is Auspicious Beasts, as all you need is a bit of Yon. It’s not the best, but it serves its purpose well early.
How to Get Cursed Techniques in Heian

To get new Cursed Techniques in Heian, you need to go to specific locations and complete certain questlines. Some are easier to get than others and only require Yon or Cursed Items, while others require you to follow full questlines given to the player by NPCs. Below is a list of all Cursed Techniques and the way to get them:
- Shrine – Follow the main story until you reach Tengu and Fiend. Defeating them drops the Cursed Embryo. Take the Cursed Embryo to Kenny in the Light Cave, right past the Zenin Residence. He will transform your Cursed Embryo into a Cursed Finger. Eat the Cursed Finger to start the Shrine quest. Upon completion, you will receive the Shrine Cursed Technique.
- Cursed Energy Discharge – To obtain the Cursed Energy Discharge Cursed Technique, you must be at least a Grade 2 Sorcerer. This Cursed Technique is available when you have 60 CO.
- Sword Saint – Go to Nagano village, enter the Bar, and talk to the Trainer inside repeatedly. Choose the ‘Tell me a story’ option until he gives you a quest to retrieve four fragments of his blade. Here are the locations: 1. Vashe Wilds – Cave past Kirisaki Village.
2. Tundra – Temple of the Forgotten Hero, down the stairs.
3. Overgrowth – Located in the Zenin Residence, inside one of the buildings.
4. Oasis – Located in the pit near the Demon calamity. - Mythical Beast Amber – Head to the peak of Mount Fujin near Nagano Village. Climb to the highest peak and wait to be struck by lightning. Once you are struck, return to the Trainer to receive a quest: Defeat a Sorcerer of the same power as you. Once completed, you will receive the Cursed Technique.
- Limitless – For the Limitless Cursed Technique, you first need to acquire Maximum Techniques. To unlock Maximum Techniques, find an injured sorcerer with arrows who can appear anywhere on the map and choose to end his misery. He will drop a Boundless Scroll, which you can use at 80 CO or higher to access the techniques by holding C when your cursed energy is full.
- Projection Sorcery – To acquire this Cursed Technique, you must be at least Grade 2 and complete the Zenin Cart Event.
- Blazing Courage – To get this cursed technique, go to the Vashe Desert and find the NPC in a destroyed and burnt village, but you must first cross the burning entrance. Once you complete his quest to defeat 5 Fujiwaras, 1 Vice Captain, and 1 Captain, return to him for a light spar to learn the technique.
- Blood Manipulation – To get Blood Manipulation, head to Whispering Valley and look behind the waterfall for the NPC who teaches it. You must be a Grade 2 Sorcerer and bring her a Mushroom to earn her trust, then complete her quest to defeat three strong humans, meaning players who are Grade 2 or higher.
- Ice Formation – You can learn this technique by finding an NPC in Vashe Tundra. From the entrance, head straight to the very end of the area and then turn right to see him nearby. To unlock the technique, you must complete two quests. First, defeat a Tengu. Second, find and retrieve a Blue Rose, which is located near the highest peak of Fujin Mountain, close to the presence of the Mythical Beast Amber Trainer.
- Auspicious Beasts – To obtain Auspicious Beasts, go to the Ethereal Bamboo Forest and find the NPC who teaches the cursed technique. You must be a Grade 2 Sorcerer and meet his requirements, which can be done in two ways. Either pay him 20000 Yon, or choose the second option and pay 3000 Yon along with 10 Gold.
- Ratio – To obtain Ratio, go to Kirisaki Village and meet the Grade 2 Sorcerer, who gives you two quests: exterminate five weak cursed spirits and defeat a Brute, a Frozen Brute, and a Kuchisaki. The Frozen Brute and Kuchisaki can be found in Vashe Tundra by accepting related job board quests.
