Harmonix is working on a music creation game

The battle of the band games continues this holiday with Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour, and some might say that World Tour has the leg up with a music creation mode. Maybe. It depends on how much of a music nerd you are. But, if you’re that nerdy, you might want to look forward to the upcoming Harmonix music creation title.

“We have over 40 bands in the company, 85 percent of us play an instrument, we really get music. We’ve talked about doing a music creator,” Harmonix PR John Drake told MTV Multiplayer. “…Harmonix is going to do something great with it [music creation] down the road, we didn’t want to rush it out and do it half-assed. This is definitely a full-on project for us. You’ll hear more about it soon.”

That’s super great for the band geek like me, but Drake says that it will also be accessible to the mainstream audience.

“We think we can do something really ambitious and really great that’s going to speak across all the users of the game, not just hardcore users — and that will result in some awesome stuff and not just Final Fantasy covers,” he said.

Wait, what the f*ck is wrong with Final Fantasy covers? Oh, he says he likes them, too. Good save.
