Halo: Reach launched at 12am this morning, and already the servers are being infested with dirty rotten cheaters. According to Bungie, a relatively small percentage of people bought Reach just so they could break the game and be assholes, but the developer is getting ready to ban anybody caught on sight.
“We are already aware of a number of nefarious deeds by a very small percentage of early adopters and we have already been taking action,” warns Bungie. “We expect that a few more will turn up once the population explodes on September 14th. We will be ready, watching, waiting, firing at will on people who deserve it.”
The studio has a number of inventive bans up its sleeves, too: “Voice bans, host bans, console bans, gamertag bans, credit bans and the automatic habitual quitter penalty are but a few of our sharply honed weapons hungering for blood.”
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that, less than twelve hours after launch, there are already cheaters, but it’s still sad and dismaying nonetheless. I mean, really? How much of a loser must you be that the first thing you do with a $60 purchase is to try and ruin everyone’s fun? Even worse, how pathetic must one be to feel accomplished by winning at videogames they’ve cheated in?
People like that need to be injected with something that puts them to sleep forever.
